The Insanity Of Our Senses

pexels-photo-113850-largeSenses, in terms of normal behavior, are defined as, “feeling, sensation, consciousness, recognition, and discernment.” It’s the ability to observe, distinguish or identify something. When an individual loses the ability to exercise his or hers senses within the range of what is considered “normal” they are deemed insane or mentally ill, which means they have lost the basic ability to perceive, behave, or socially interact.

Prior to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, for the majority, there was a lack of perception, the ability to discern spiritual things. Therefore, spiritually speaking, a measure of insanity had enthroned itself in the hearts and minds of humanity. Again, while some showed positive signs of spiritual maturity, most did not.

Just as our natural senses enable us to engage with human society, so our spiritual senses equip us to engage with heaven and the invisible realm of God’s kingdom. Since AD, one of the benefits of Kingdom restoration is having all of our spiritual senses restored to their normal range of spiritual functionality.

One of the variables of spiritual restoration is having the ability to perceive, recognize, discern and spiritually engage with all that is on earth, in heaven, and the kingdom of God.

“…But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.” (Hebrews 5:14)

At the very least, through the exercising of our spiritual senses we are able to function within the normal range of discerning good and evil. Anything less than this, by definition, is insane. Currently, the body of Christ is still struggling to reach a state of spiritual sanity. While the kingdom of God is undoubtedly becoming more and more visible, the maturation of the body of Christ is just now beginning to break free of a mindset that has deprived itself of its fullest potential in the Spirit.

The Insanity of Government

Multiple nations, including the United States has gone through a period of insanity. From a governmental standpoint, many have lost their ability to correctly discern or recognize their determined destiny in God. Nations that might have once had the mind to observe and identify their next course of action, now appear to be morally and economically barely able to tread water.

Nonetheless, by the grace of God, divine interruptions are coming into view and nations that have lost their former glory will return, not to an old glory, but a new glory. Therefore, let there be no doubt in your heart, that the insanity of hell will be overcome with the sanity of heaven.  In short, the gates or government of hell will not prevail.

The Insanity Of The New Norm

This next season or cycle of soul and spirit will reflect yet another level of spiritual maturation. Many are beginning to exercise their spiritual senses off the grid of the previous norm. As a result, they are encountering Jesus and the kingdom of heaven in ways unimaginable.

Since a partial definition of insanity is someone who is considered to be very foolish or unreasonable, to the spiritually mature, the old norm will seem somewhat insane. While to the immature, the new norm will appear just as insane, if not more.

Let me inject here. Many of you reading this, in your own way, are compelled to challenge those who have settled for interpretations of scripture that in your estimation, are not true.

While I believe the process of correction is an honorable effort and much needed, we must guard ourselves from trying to police people into seeing life our way. We are admonished to be a light in the world not a dictator of truth. God never intended for His word to be used as a method of bulling people into a place of spiritual submission or maturation. In my estimation, these acts are nothing less than insane.

Multilayered – Multidimensional

I am of the understanding that the senses of soul and spirit are designed to work hand in hand. Yet, ultimately we can only have one master. Therefore, while there must be a separation of the two in terms of government, I believe there is still a cohesive oneness of the Spirit working in both.

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:14-15)

It’s time for the body of Christ to think of their eternal existence in terms of occupying multiple realms/worlds at the same time.

Over the course of this year, I have repeatedly spoken about what it means to be a multilayered, multidimensional being. Everything that exists in heaven and on earth, in one fashion or another, is multilayered.

From the beginning, we were created to occupy multiple realms simultaneously. One of the inhibitors in this area has been the lack of exercising our spiritual senses, thus engaging with Father at the level he has called us.

The amount of people that are still struggling with the idea of encountering heaven on a regular basis is still quite staggering. This unfortunately is the power of the soul at work. If we let it, it will always try to filter out the present reality of heaven in us, thus our ability to behold His glory more fully here and now. We are only as limited as we allow ourselves to be.

In speaking to His disciples Jesus said, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. (Matt 13:11)

In that day, those who were granted the ability to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven were those who were with Jesus. Whoever was relationally connected with Him got the inside scoop from an eternal perspective. This holds true for anyone who desires to gain access to the kingdom of heaven today.

If you are someone that constantly battles with thoughts of exclusion, you need to know that this is never the heart of Jesus toward you. Whether you feel like you are in the loop or not, Jesus is an all inclusive savior, friend and mentor. His desire is to include “whosoever will” in all things that relate to heaven and earth. It’s equally important to know that as a follower of Jesus, there will always be a measure of insanity attached to the exercising of your spiritual senses. There will always be those who will appear a bit foolish and unreasonable. However, in this case, the conclusion of sanity will always be determined by what spirit we are of.

“When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went on to another village.” (Luke 9:54-56)
